1899 INN, Deadwood – A Smart Stay in the City
About the Hotel
Historic Queen Anne Inn
The 1899 Inn is Deadwood's only turn-of-the-century inn with full breakfast service, located in one of the central neighborhoods of this historic gold rush town. Each of the seven bedrooms in the main Inn are furnished with antiques bought at various auctions throughout the Black Hills and Wyoming, featuring eclectic local art and objects acquired by the innkeepers on their travels, including photography from Vietnam, an original print by a Native artist, and a poster signed by actor Kevin Costner.
Unique Room Accommodations
Rooms include the Old Library with a king memory foam mattress, jetted tub/shower combo, and two sink vanities; the Music Room on the third floor with a king sleigh bed and views of the Presidential District; and the Attic Suite with a king bed, split queen bed, heated marble floor, clawfoot slipper tub, and vertical spa with two shower heads and four body jets. Two private cottages behind the main house each sleep up to six guests with full kitchens, living areas, and covered porches.
Full Breakfast Service
A full hot breakfast is served in the formal dining room, featuring seasonal dishes and artisan bread made daily in-house. Menu items include baked French toast with pork sausage, ham and Swiss frittata with Parmesan crust, harvest breakfast hash with applewood smoked bacon, and pan-seared coconut oats with honey-poached blueberries. Breakfast includes locally-roasted drip coffee, selection of teas, fruit juice, and milk.
Deadwood Location Access
The inn is situated at the downhill boundary of Mount Moriah Cemetery, where Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok are buried. It's near the Days of '76 Museum with Native American artifacts and rodeo exhibits, and close to the Mickelson Trail, a 114-mile hiking and biking trail. Rapid City Regional Airport is 53 miles southeast, served by Delta, American, United, and Allegiant. Many guests rent a car at the airport for their stay.
Inn Amenities Services
The property offers wireless internet throughout, small in-room refrigerators, 24-hour hot beverage station with K-cup machine, and parking. Each guest bathroom has a selection of soaps and lotions. Rooms include internet-connected HDTVs with Netflix and cable programming. The tankless hot water system provides endless hot water for showers and baths. The covered front porch and rear wraparound porch with bistro lights create outdoor gathering spaces.

Guest Ratings & Reviews
The hotel is ideally located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, right next to Mount Moriah cemetery and within walking distance of the downtown area. The rooms offer a unique experience in the former library, with some minor drawbacks. The service is noteworthy, but there are some missed opportunities. Dining options are available, including fried fish, with room for improvement. The facilities are sufficient for a comfortable stay.
Staying at this hotel was truly a delightful experience. The location is perfect, nestled in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota-Deadwood, making it easy to explore all the local attractions. The rooms are cozy and inviting, providing a great atmosphere for relaxation. The service was exceptional, with attentive housekeeping ensuring a comfortable stay. However, the dining options were a bit lacking when it came to salads, and the price could be more aligned with the overall value offered.
The hotel is nestled in the charming black hills of South Dakota Deadwood, offering proximity to all the key attractions you'd want to see in Deadwood. The rooms are cozy and inviting, while the service is top-notch. However, there could be more dining options to choose from.
